Concept and study phase

Work during this phase is aimed at creating and clarifying ideas. Attention should be paid to all four areas; need, results, scope and plan but the emphasis is on need and results.

  • Develop, describe and document ideas/concepts.
  • Identify stakeholders and document their needs.
  • Explore different options for the assignment, e.g. ’do nothing’, ’do the minimum’, ’do something’ or ’do everything’ along with the corresponding results.
  • Make rough estimates of need for competence and resources as well as time required for realization.
  • Rate the concepts (benefit in relation to resource requirements and risks).
  • Give feedback to those who came up with the ideas/concepts.
  • Choose concept(s) for further development.
