The Closure phase

In the Closure phase we ensure that responsibility for the project is handed over and that all outstanding issues are dealt with. The project is then formally closed.

  • Make sure that the customer/user has approved the delivery.
  • Hand over responsibility for the project’s results to the receiver.
  • Clarify when business objectives are to be evaluated and by whom.
  • Carry out a well-defined closure, evaluate performance against objectives, etc.
  • Hold a lessons-learned seminar with the project team.
  • Clarify and list outstanding issues, then close the project.
  • Document and share experiences and celebrate together.
  • Give feedback to and thank all involved for their contribution, then dissolve the organization.
